Love Over Scotland

This is somewhat embarrassing. I was about to write about Love over Scotland
and how much I enjoyed Alexander McCall Smith’s series when I realised upon doing some research that I read volume 3 after volume 1 and skipped Espresso Tales. Well done me. I blame the librarians for their deceiving organisation (or lack of). So I planned to start the article about how hard I’d find it to jump from one book to another but that since it has been over a year since I read 44 Scotland Street, it was probably my fault. Little did I know how much at fault I was. So there is not so much to say except that I will have to go back to the library after reading 100 pages of the wrong book.

On the bright side, in spite of having missed a whole book, I still managed after the first 30 pages of re-bonding with the characters, replacing the context around them, etc. Which means that either the characterisation is a great success or that nothing happened in the second book.

In spite of the exceptional circumstances, I must say the series is a great read and that it’s a shame to miss out on it. I have never set a foot in Edinburgh and still I feel like I lived there. Better even, I feel like I miss the city.

Let hope I will get to read the whole series IN ORDER from now on. It’s nice that most if not all books are available in Hamburg. The challenge is of course to find in which library.
